Lieven Danneels is full professor at the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy. He is head of the research unit Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, section Spine. He authored more than 80 publications in international peer reviewed journals (A1), many national publications and several book chapters. He participated in several national and international projects. He has also received about 20 research grants from national and International research funds.
Lieven Danneels has a close collaboration with Paul Hodges (University of Queensland) and already won various awards on spine and low back pain research (2000, 2002, 2011).
He is also Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Activities in Physiotherapy of Ghent University http://ipvk.ugent.be, director of Postgraduate Training In Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy of Ghent University http://www.revaki.ugent.be and president of the Belgian Back Society.
In addition, he is a Member of the Advisory Editorial Board of the “Manual Therapy” journal and reviewer for different international journals
