Alexandra De Raeve has a background in textile engineering. Before starting her academic career she worked for 10 years in the textile industry as a product manager. In 1999 she joined HOGENT University of Applied Sciences & Arts as a textile researcher. Currently she holds a position as lecturer and coordinator of the research centre FTILab+. Her field of expertise is clothing comfort and textile finishing technology. The lines of research of FTILab+ target Comfort & Protection for both humans and animals through design/optimization of products for among others sports & health using (smart) textiles and/or innovative manufacturing techniques, Digitization & Clean Technologies in product development & manufacturing and Biobased materials. Additionally anthropometrics and horse body measurements are investigated.
