On 20 October, Ghent University and Vlerick Business School teamed up to host the Vlerick & UGent Tech Transfer Matchmaking Event, a dynamic afternoon dedicated to connecting innovative research with entrepreneurial talent ready to turn ideas into impact.
The event gathered researchers, investors, business professionals, and aspiring co-founders for an interactive pitching and networking session. The goal: to accelerate the creation of future spin-offs emerging from Ghent University’s research ecosystem.
Over the course of 14 inspiring pitches, participants were introduced to cutting-edge technologies and business concepts spanning diverse domains: from biotech and engineering to sports and human performance.
Victoris on Stage: PACE, SPORSA & HorseCompass
Among the 14 presentations, three projects proudly represented Victoris, each highlighting the unique potential of sports science and human performance innovations within Ghent University:
- PACE: the PACE-model turns the Critical Power Concept into a practical training and racing tool, providing cyclists with real-time “battery level” feedback via power meter data. Read more about PACE.
- SPORSA: a sensor and dashboard aiming to mitigate risks, improve race dynamics monitoring, and facilitate timely communication during cycling events. Read more about SPORSA.
- HorseCompass (formerly HorSize): HorseCompass builds an information compass, reducing the number of ill-fitting saddles and equitation-related injuries in horses and humans. Read more about HorseCompass (formerly HorSize).
